"Real education means to inspire people to live more abundantly, to learn to begin with life as they find it and make it better."
– Carter G. Woodson
We believe that education is life. College isn't about accumulating knowledge for future use. It's about helping students discover their own brilliance and using it to "begin with life as they find it and make it better."
That's where we come in. Scholar's Studio works in communities to help students discover how to put their strengths to work inside and outside the classroom. Students enroll in 2-4 courses that are reserved exclusively for Scholar's Studio participants. All three courses are linked through a common theme that is explored in depth throughout the semester.
Learning has no boundaries in Scholar's Studio. Past participants have traveled to New York and Philadelphia, conducted research in prisons and local communities, explored museums and monuments, engaged in debates and spoken word events, and much, much more.
Besides offering a meaningful (potentially life changing!) experience, Scholar's Studio provides substantial academic support, including mentoring, supplemental instruction and engaged faculty and staff.
